New NaNoWriMo Forums

NaNoWriMo has new forums! https://forums.nanowrimo.org/

They launched the forums in preparation for their new website. Be sure to spread the word about Dabble this NaNoWriMo. There are still so many people who have never heard about Dabble and would make a great addition to our own community!

Who’s participating in NaNoWriMo this year?

I will be. Though it’s yet to be seen if it will be a new story or fan fiction. I’m working on a story outline but i might lose momentum before then and get stuck in editing gear. But Github’s Game off is also in november so I’m still drawn to the idea of doing a text adventure game for both of them

I plan to! I have a few projects that may end up being the one I go with so we’ll see what ends up being written! But I fully intend to seek my 50k goal.

Oooh, a text adventure could be a lot of fun.

I will be! I have a rough plan of the series I want to work on, so I’ll start on book 1 and see how far I go! I’m hoping to get at least partway into book 2 though, but we shall see!

Yeah I figure it puts the programming and the story tellilng together. The story I want to tell is the same one I’m working on an outline for so basically it’ll work either way I decide to go. It really depends on if I can write the engine before hand since nothing I’ve found really does what I want it to do in the way I want it to do it. At the very least I can old school it with markdown hyperlinks to do the same thing and just have a markdown interpreter… WHICH might be the better way to go for a quick engine since I write in markdown anyway lol.

I’m back in university and I have six courses this semester, so I’m not sure I’ll have the time. Actually, I’m not sure I’ll have a life. :stuck_out_tongue:

I’m right there with you! Full time job, 16 credit hours (one course is extremely heavy and takes up most of my free time) but WE SHALL SEE!

Ah, teachers who secretly write fiction unite! :yum:
My two courses start mid October, I hope to find the time for some preparations - i.e. at least decide what I want to work on … My mom keeps asking me about the “novel” I did in my first NaNo 2016 … I never finished editing it  . But I prefer to write something new or at least continue projects that have not gotten much attention yet.

Edit/Note: The new NaNo keeps logging me out when I switch tabs, so no chance for now to post anything.

I’m on the fence about doing NNWM this year. I’m 99.5% finished with WIP #1, but WIP #2 is still very rough. Dare I introduce a WIP #3 to the mix? The fun thing is that WIP #3 would be centered on what happens between WIP #1 and WIP #2

I’m going to do some of the September and October NaNoWriMo prep work and see how far I get into it.

@Chris, don’t stress too much if the forums don’t love you yet, they’re still getting a little TLC from the team at NaNo before Nov. They’ve been getting better daily, if that helps!

The new NaNo site went live yesterday I think.

https://nanowrimo.org/participants/aj-hunter is my user profile page. Feel free to add me as a Buddy. We all get to start our buddy lists over with the new site. It looks nice.

I will add you both as soon as Nano figures out what’s wrong lol. It’s being quirky.

I found that the site is still being a bit quirky, but I was able to send friend requests to all of you. If anyone else wants to add me, I am https://nanowrimo.org/participants/greyjedi

was wondering who that was. I think I accepted @Water but it’s being quirky for me too so I can’t check right now

I added you all! Except maybe @Water, I’m not sure if that one worked.

I’m here! Feel free to add me too.

All in all I’m happy with the new site and forums! I know they’re buggy still bit that’s why they were released now and not closer to Nov. It gives it more time to iron everything out, and us all using it is a far better test than just a small control group.

To be honest, the new everything won me over just by being pretty

Not sure what happened to my settings, I moved everything a while ago, but my profile is empty sigh.

Also, saw you were in American Fork @Tori_North. I grew up in Highland, went to AF High, played in the marching band. I know the area well.
